I had this idea for a thread after I listened to Vermillion for the first time in years ('twas one of my favorite songs as a kid).

The song(s):
Vermilion Part 1 & 2 by Slipknot

Why it reminds me of Tali: The extreme levels of emotion expressed in V P1 remind me of how I feel about Tali. What's more, the confusion and conflict that is expressed make me think about how I try and reconcile loving someone who does not even exist. The lines "SHE ISN'T REAL! I CAN'T MAKE HER REAL!"  only further strengthen the connection to this.

Vermillion Part 2 is a much slower and more melancholic song, and sort of reflects how I feel in my quieter moments. In particular, these three lines are the most relevant: "The unattainable. She's a myth that I have to believe in, All I need to make it real is one more reason."

And if this scares you, I'll just use the fact that I am autistic as my excuse.
Tali: I thought I'd lost you.
Shepard: You were worried?
Tali: You bet I was! You dying because the geth overrode my hack? Think of my reputation!
Shepard: You were worried.

Honestly, I'm surprised to see Tali and Slipknot in the same post. It's a strange idea.
Not having any songs reminding of Tali, I contribute with comic approaches:

Tali's Song - Mass Effect Parody
-> very old but funny
Power Rangers: Normandy - A Mass Effect Parody
-> THE BEST!
Power Rangers: Normandy - Power Rangers in SPACE Edition
-> Alternate version of the above one

Also, 100th post!

What does "Seven" have to do with Stephen King?

Also, metal is often more emotion filled than that popular culture cruft.

Quite a few Slipknot songs are concerned with relationships (Vermilion Part 1 and 2, The Nameless, Gehenna...). Although, it's generally in quite an... unorthodox way.

You should listen to Snuff. I have a feeling that you will like it.

I respect Slipknot, but it's really not my style. For metal, I prefer Thrash/Speed.

Did you at least listen to the two songs that I linked in the OP? That would really help you to see where I am coming from.

If it's metal, I'll at the very least listen to it once.

Have you ever heard of a band called Opeth?
It doesn't really have anything to do with Tali, but since this forum is so inactive, I don't think that an admin will complain about this being off topic.

Opeth - The Grand Conjuration

This song is an absolute blast to play on guitar.
Tali: I thought I'd lost you.
Shepard: You were worried?

Yeah, they were all the rage a few years back, and i still see people wearing t-shirts now and then. These two clips were replayed on a daily basis on the TV, on a dark age were Youtube was space magic. Duality and Before I Forget also played on every top ten when released.

I got the idea. The lyrics for the songs somehow reminds of the sensation of being so involved with a imaginary character.

Never heard of that band, but I like it. Really good balance between voice and instrumental.

 :D Don't remember a single thread which I haven't helped derail.

Slipknot are villainized in South Africa, because a few years ago someone who committed a massacre at a local school was found to listen to the band. So whenever I told someone that they were my favorite band, people would ask me if I was a satanist. Morons.

The ironic thing was that back then, I actually played guitar for my church's band.

It's just way more convenient to blame it on something concrete. After all, it's far easier to bar your children from listening to "satanic" metal than it is to actually become decent parents.

I have listened to pretty much listened to every band that is actually worth listening to - and even some that aren't; here's looking at you, Bezerker - and I am in a perfectly good space right now. I am about to finish at the top university in Africa, I am well liked - mostly - by the people around me, and I have a good relationship with my family. It's not despite the fact that I listened to metal, it's because, growing up, I had very supportive parents. Although, my mother did not much like the fact that I listened to Slipknot.

And all because of this song:
Slipknot - Disasterpiece (guitar cover)
Tali: I thought I'd lost you.
Shepard: You were worried?
Tali: You bet I was! You dying because the geth overrode my hack? Think of my reputation!
Shepard: You were worried.

Another Opeth song; it really doesn't get any better than this:

Opeth - The Leper Affinity
Tali: I thought I'd lost you.
Shepard: You were worried?
Tali: You bet I was! You dying because the geth overrode my hack? Think of my reputation!
Shepard: You were worried.
